On Friday 11th March 2016, Kingfisher Primary School along with our other Griffin School’s celebrated our very first every Founders Day. The trust’s motto which is Proud Traditions, Wide Horizons and High Achievement was promoted by the whole Kingfisher Community on this day. On this special day, to celebrate the Griffin value of public service, Kingfisher hosted a coffee morning and afternoon tea for our parental community, where they were welcomed with cakes and scones made by our children.
Our pupils were visited by the Chief Executives of the Trust, Liz Lewis and Ange Tyler who inspired our children further to become Griffins and how important it was to demonstrate key values promoted within our school.
The day continued with Year 1 pupils supporting our local Christ of King Church, where Revered D’Souza had welcomed our pupils to pick up litter from outside the church.
Our Year 3 pupils helped our local community by bag packing at Morissons.
The day ended with Councillors Gloria Opara and Tashi Bhutia who attended our afternoon tea. They were particularly complimentary towards our pupils and described them as polite, knowledgeable and informative.
Miss Panesar was delighted with the support from Parents, Staff and our Community towards this event and feels that ‘serving our community’ should be part of the curriculum as the values which we teach our children through this service are truly incredible.
